Coach Terms of Use
Last updated 2026-10-22. The agreement between you and Cordella Systems LLC for using Coach.
1. These terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Cordella Systems LLC, a Montana company ("we", "us"), which runs Coach. You accept them when you confirm them to Eric, or by continuing to use Coach after he sends them to you. Before you connect Garmin, Coach will ask you to accept these terms in the app. The Coach Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information and is part of these terms.
2. What Coach is
Coach is a personal-training service. Coach builds your program from your questionnaire, and Eric, the trainer behind Coach, starts it. If you build your own program instead, it starts the next Monday without waiting for him, and he is told. Many changes you make yourself, such as skipping a day or changing your session time, apply straight away. A pause, a trip or a different program waits for Eric. Each morning Coach reads how you recovered, from your Garmin watch if you have connected one or, if you choose, from two quick questions. It then picks the day's session, scales it to your recovery when it has a reading, and puts it in Coach's own logger. Coach also tracks your progress, answers your questions using AI and, depending on your plan, writes a weekly review.
3. A pilot
Coach is in an invite-only pilot. Features may change, pause or stop, data may arrive late or not at all, and we may end the pilot. We will tell you before we stop offering Coach.
4. Who can use Coach
You must be at least 18 years old and invited by Eric. Your account is for you alone, and the information you give Coach must be true and your own.
5. Your private link
You open Coach with a private link that Eric sends you, and it is the key to your account. Keep it private. Don't forward or post it, and tell Eric straight away if someone else may have it. He will replace it, and the old one will stop working.
6. Not medical advice
Coach and Eric don't give medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and Coach is not a medical device. Using Coach doesn't create a doctor-patient or therapist-patient relationship. Readiness colours, watch numbers, blood pressure readings, body-composition results and anything the AI writes are training information, not a health assessment. If you have a heart condition, high or uncontrolled blood pressure or a current injury, if you are pregnant, or if you have any doubt, talk to a licensed clinician before you start, and follow their advice over Coach's. Coach doesn't watch you in real time and can't respond to emergencies: in an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number. Don't rely on Coach, or on the Garmin data it shows, in any situation where your life or health may depend on it.
7. Exercise carries risk
Strength training, conditioning, rucking and the other activities Coach plans can cause injury, sometimes serious, and in rare cases heart problems or death. You choose whether to do each session and what weight to use. Warm up, use only equipment you know how to use safely, follow your gym's rules, and use a spotter or safety bars when you need them. Stop at once if you feel pain, chest pain, dizziness, faintness or unusual shortness of breath. Report pain with the Hurts button and tell Eric. To the fullest extent the law allows, you take on these risks yourself.
8. AI in Coach
Some of what Coach writes is generated by AI (Anthropic's Claude): answers to your questions, which are labelled "Coach", chat replies if Eric opens chat to you, your weekly review, the numbers read from reports you upload, the intake interview if you do one, and summaries. The AI never receives your Garmin data or anything worked out from it. AI can be wrong or incomplete, and it doesn't know everything about you. Don't rely on it for medical decisions. "Ask Eric about this" sends any Coach answer to Eric, and his answers carry his name. The Privacy Policy's AI transparency statement says what the AI receives.
9. Garmin and other services
Coach works with services run by other companies, including Garmin. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and anything you buy from them is between you and them. Coach isn't affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Garmin. Garmin and Garmin Connect are trademarks of Garmin Ltd. or its subsidiaries. Coach connects to your Garmin account through the Garmin Connect Developer Program; you sign in on Garmin's own page, and Coach never sees your Garmin password. When you connect a service, you authorize Coach to read your data from it, as the Privacy Policy describes.
10. Garmin's protections
Garmin's developer program requires these protections, for Garmin's benefit. In this section and section 18, "Garmin" means Garmin Ltd. and its subsidiaries and affiliates, including Garmin International, Inc., and their officers, directors, managers, partners, members, shareholders, agents, licensors, co-branders, representatives and employees.
- Garmin's services and your Garmin data are provided "as is", with all faults and without warranty of any kind. Garmin and its licensors disclaim all warranties and conditions, whether express, implied or statutory, including merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, timeliness and non-infringement. Garmin doesn't promise that its services, its data or anything produced from them will meet your needs, work without interruption, work with Coach, achieve any result, or be secure, accurate, complete, free of harmful code or error-free.
- You use Garmin's services and your Garmin data at your own discretion and risk, and you are responsible for any damage to your devices or loss of data that results. No advice or information from Garmin creates a warranty.
- To the fullest extent the law allows, Garmin isn't liable to you for any loss, injury or damage of any kind, direct or indirect, arising from Coach, from your use of Coach, from your Garmin data or its use, or from anything Garmin or anyone else does or fails to do in connection with Coach. That includes lost profits, revenue, contracts or savings, lost or corrupted data, and incidental, special or consequential damages, whether the claim is in contract, tort, strict liability or any other theory, and even if Garmin was told such damages were possible. If any liability can't be excluded, Garmin's total liability to you is limited to one US dollar ($1.00).
- To the fullest extent the law allows, you release Garmin from all claims, damages, costs and expenses (including legal costs and attorneys' fees) of every kind arising from or related to Coach, or to Coach's use of Garmin's services and your Garmin data.
- Garmin isn't responsible for Coach, its programs, its advice or its handling of your data, and Garmin doesn't endorse Coach.
- If Coach ever sends workouts or other data to your Garmin Connect account, it will first tell you that the data is going to Garmin, link to the Garmin Connect privacy notice and ask for your consent. Garmin may then use that data under its own terms. If the data comes with someone else's terms, following them is your responsibility: don't upload it to Garmin Connect, or change those terms, if you aren't allowed to.
- Garmin is an intended third-party beneficiary of this section and of section 18, and may enforce them directly.
11. Rules for using Coach
Don't share your link or let anyone else use your account. Don't try to see another member's data or reach parts of Coach that aren't yours. Don't probe, scan, overload, copy, scrape or reverse-engineer Coach. Don't enter anyone else's information without their permission, or information you know is false. Don't use Coach for anything illegal or harmful, to harass anyone, or to misuse Garmin's or anyone else's services. We watch for misuse, and we may restrict or end the access of anyone who breaks these rules.
12. Reporting abuse
To report abuse of Coach, a security problem, or misuse of anyone's data, email [email protected] with "Abuse report" in the subject, or use the "What's up?" box on My Plan. Eric reads every report, looks into it and replies.
13. Your content and ours
What you put into Coach, such as your answers, notes and logs, stays yours. You let us store and use it to run Coach for you, as the Privacy Policy describes. Coach's software, programs, exercise notes and design belong to Cordella Systems LLC, and the exercise demonstration clips are licensed from others. You may use them for your own training, but not copy or share them.
14. Fees
Coach takes no payments in the app. If there is a fee for your coaching, Eric will agree it with you before you are charged.
15. Pausing, ending and your data
You can ask to pause or end your membership at any time, from the link on My Plan or by emailing Eric. We can pause or end your access if you break these terms, if your safety or someone else's requires it, or if we stop offering Coach, and we will tell you when we do. Pausing or ending doesn't delete your data: we keep it so you can come back, until you ask us to delete it. To have it deleted, ask Eric. The Privacy Policy explains what deletion covers and what takes longer. Sections 6, 7, 10, 13 and 16 to 20 continue after your membership ends.
16. No warranty
Coach is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't promise that Coach will be uninterrupted, error-free or always available, that the data it shows (including Garmin data) is accurate or on time, or that any program will produce a particular result.
17. Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Cordella Systems LLC and Eric aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from Coach or your use of it. Our total liability for any claim about Coach is limited to the greater of what you paid for coaching in the 12 months before the claim and US$100. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited.
18. Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Cordella Systems LLC, Eric and Garmin from claims, losses and costs, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of Coach or Garmin's services, or your violation of any law or anyone's rights, including penalties, settlements and investigations. Garmin may take over the defense of any such claim brought against it.
19. Changes
We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with a new date, and tell members in Coach when a change matters. Continuing to use Coach after that means you accept the new terms.
20. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Montana, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state courts in Flathead County, Montana, or the United States District Court for the District of Montana, Missoula Division, and you consent to their jurisdiction. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
